Ronald Richard Sogge

Ron was born June 3, 1933, to Bert and Mildred Sogge in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Wayne State University where he earned his BA and the Detroit College of law where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree. While attending Wayne State he met the love of his life, Donna Louise Rotunda. After their first date he never dated anyone else. They were married on September 27, 1958, at Peace Lutheran Church. Ron entered the Navy as a JAG officer and served in Norfolk, VA. He returned to Detroit and remained in the Navy retiring as a Commander. Ron followed his father’s footsteps as an attorney for the City of Detroit and then lawyered in private practice. Ron and Donna had four children: Ronald, Robert (Mary Kay), Karen and Richard and two grandchildren, Erik (Brittany) and Kara Whitburn (Christopher). Ron adored each of them. Ron is survived by his brother-in-law, Don Rotunda (Mary) who was a friend for most of his life, and his dear friend, Barbara McCarthy. Donna predeceased Ron on March 6, 2020, after 62 perfect years of marriage. They sailed the Great Lakes and the Caribbean together, golfed, traveled the world and wintered in Anna Maria Island, FL. Ron was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
