Helene Cassar, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 7, 2024. Born in Detroit, Michigan to Michael and Helen Adomaitis, Helene attended Western High School, where she graduated with the class of 1949. After high school, Helene began her career as a secretary at Ford Motor Company, where she worked diligently until she retired to focus on raising her family. While working at Ford, she met Fred Cassar, who proposed to her on the second date. A year later, they married and remained devoted to one another until his passing in 1991. A social butterfly at heart, Helene loved spending time with friends and exploring new experiences. She had a particular passion for trying new restaurants and visiting the casino. Shopping was another of Helene's great loves; she had a keen eye for fashion and enjoyed staying up to date with the latest trends. A movie enthusiast, Helene kept up with the latest films and actors, enjoying her regular readings of People Magazine and the National Enquirer. Most of all, Helene took immense pride in caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always putting their needs before her own. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and especially when spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. She will be dearly missed. Devoted wife of the late Fred Cassar. Beloved mother of Deborah Mestdagh (David). Loving grandmother of Andrew (Molly), Michael (Tori) and Christine Mestdagh. Adoring great-grandmother of Madison Mestdagh and Charlotte Mestdagh. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 3-8pm, with a Rosary 7pm, at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak, 48073, (248) 549-0500. Funeral Mass Wednesday, August 14, 2024, 10am, at St. Owen Catholic Church, 6869 Franklin, Bloomfield Hills 48301. Visiting at church begins at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to be made to the Solanus Casey Center.
