Jalen Williams covers breaking news and trends for the Free Press. A southeast Michigan native, Williams graduated from Western Michigan University (Go Broncos) and made stops at the Ann Arbor News and WMUK 102.1 along the way. Williams even spent some time working for the Detroit Pistons in basketball communications. He is an award-winning journalist with awards from both the Michigan Associations of Broadcasters and the Public Media Journalist Association for his piece "An African American Union Army soldier gets a headstone for the first time." Outside of breaking news, Jalen hopes to explore the intersection of sports, culture and politics.
