Jewel Gopwani Myers works with the reporters covering economic mobility, the culture youth sports, and with two of the Free Press’ veteran storytellers. She leads the internship program, and plays a large role in the Free Press’ apprentice program, fundraising for journalism, the Free Press’ collaborations with other newsrooms. She’s also engagement director of the Freep Film Festival, the Free Press' annual celebration of documentary film, and is part of the Free Press Editorial Board. Previously, Jewel was deputy editorial page editor in the Opinion section and before that was a business reporter covering airlines and auto suppliers. She started at the Free Press in 2003 as a suburban reporter in Oakland County.
