Better watch out, JD Vance, Arizona has many 'childless cat ladies' ... and men
Donald Trump is sending his vice presidential misogynist, J.D. Vance, to Arizona in hopes of changing the 'cat lady' narrative. Don't let him.
Donald Trump’s vice presidential running mate and righthand misogynist J.D. Vance is visiting Arizona this week on what can best be described as his “Please, Please, Please Can We Change the Subject Tour.”
Which, frankly, ain’t gonna happen.
Ever.
Not after Vance proudly and publicly insulted millions of American women by calling them “crazy cat ladies.”
Turns out we have some of those disparaged women right here in Arizona.
Lots, actually.
Vance's insults hit women, but also single men
In a wildly entertaining article over the weekend, The Arizona Republic’s Caitlin McGlade pointed out that Arizona, which Trump lost by 10,000 votes in 2020, is home to that same number of registered female voters who have a cat but do not have children.
Chock-full of statistics, the article pointed out that roughly 236,700 of the registered voters in Arizona have a cat.It also pointed out that while at least 10,000 of them are women, there actually are more men who fall into the category of persons who have a cat but do not have kids.
That is not good news for Trump/Vance.
Not when you consider that Vance not only has slammed women for being single and not having children, but that he’s insulted everyone who makes such a life choice.
No kids 'makes people more sociopathic'?
In pointing out what he’s referred to as “radical childless leaders in this country,” Vance has spread the hate over a very large and undeserving demographic of women and men.
He has said of people who aren’t married with children, “You know, I worry that it makes people more sociopathic and ultimately our whole country a little bit less, less mentally stable. And of course, you talk about going on Twitter — final point I’ll make is you go on Twitter and almost always the people who are most deranged and most psychotic are people who don’t have kids at home.”
He’s said, “Our country is basically run by childless Democrats who are miserable in their own lives and want to make the rest of the country miserable too.”
Good news:This is the last rotten primary election you'll vote in
He’s said (in a fundraising email), “We’ve allowed ourselves to be dominated by childless sociopaths — they’re invested in NOTHING because they’re not invested in this country’s children. Fighting back won’t be easy — our childless opponents have a lot of free time. That’s why I need YOU to stand with me.”
It goes on and on.
Don't let Vance change the subject in Arizona
And that’s without us dwelling on some of the things Vance has said about abortion, like when he was asked if laws dealing with abortion should include exceptions for rape and incest and he said, “two wrongs don’t make a right.”
While in Arizona, Vance will attempt to preach to the choir at the Arizona Christian University Event Center in Glendale where, if he’s lucky, everyone in the congregation is married and has offspring. Then he’ll go to the border in hopes of changing the subject by way of a standard campaign photo op.
But the conversation will not change. The conversation should not change.
I’d guess there are many Americans who, like me, have children, and perhaps grandchildren, and who also have friends or family members who, for reasons that are no one’s business, are not married and are not parents.
However, they most definitely are not, as Vance has suggested, “radical” or “miserable” or “deranged” or “psychotic” or “sociopathic.”
Just the opposite. They are loving, responsible people. They pay taxes. They vote. Many of them are pet owners as well, something that enhances all members of a family, no matter its size. Animals that live with us invariably expand our sense of empathy and highten our powers of discernment.
For example, our ability to spot a lapdog.
