2023 Michigan Top Workplaces program nominations deadline extended

The deadline to nominate an employer for honors in the 2023 Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces competition has been extended to July 7.

The annual program recognizes the best places to work in Michigan and winners are chosen based on a short 24-question employee survey.

So far, 350 employers have signed up to compete to be a Michigan Top Workplace. Any organization with 50 or more employees in the state is eligible to participate, no matter if the workplace is public, private, nonprofit or government, in small, medium or large employer categories.

There is no cost to participate in the program.

“Top Workplaces allows employers to get a read on what areas they should be celebrating and what areas they should be focusing on,” Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage, the Free Press' research partner that conducts the surveys, said in April in announcing the program this year.

Energage conducts surveys for media in 62 markets and it said it surveyed more than 2 million employees at more than 8,000 organizations last year.

Workplaces will be surveyed through July and winners will be announced in late 2023.
