Mudgie’s Deli in Corktown to kick off popular Lobster Roll week Tuesday
Hungry for lobster? Starting next week, Corktown’s beloved Mudgie’s Deli and Wine Shop will bring back its popular lobster roll for a limited time.
On Tuesday, Mudgie’s kicks off its Lobster Roll week that will run through Aug. 3.
For years Mudgie’s has flown in fresh from a source in Maine lobster meat daily to make lobster rolls and, at times, other items, like lobster bisque for its annual event.
At the Corktown deli, the fresh lobster meat is lightly dressed in mayonnaise, celery and onion. The lobster meat is seasoned with herbs and lemon and served on a buttered and toasted roll.
Mudgie’s lobster rolls will be available for carryout or dine-in on a first-come, first-served basis and no reservations will be accepted.

Lobster rolls are $34 and served with a dill pickle spear. A lobster salad is also $34 and is the same lobster mix as what’s on the roll but served on a bed of greens. A lobster and wine special is $80 and features two lobster rolls and a bottle of Italian dry rosé.
Because of its popularity, the lobster rolls are subject to sell out each day. If Mudgie’s sells out, they’ll post a notice on its social media and if needed, put a quantity limit on carryout orders, according to the deli. During Lobster Week, Mudgie’s will not offer its breakfast service.
Lobster roll week has been around for years and was started by the late owner, Greg Mudge. The special dates to Mudgie’s fifth-anniversary promotion, when the deli featured a different sandwich each week from every state. When it came time for Maine, Mudge went with the lobster roll, according to Free Press reports.

The lobster rolls were a huge hit. In the past, lines have formed out the door. In 2020, instead of lobster week, the deli turned its special into a lobster roll month.
During this lobster roll week, the deli will have special hours: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday- Friday. On Saturday, deli hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and feature a lobster week closing party from 5-9 p.m. on the patio with DJ Skeez.
