Top 10 Takeover dining series: Tickets on sale Thursday for Noori Pocha
A family-owned gastropub offering authentic Korean dishes along with Korean beers, wines and spirits, is next up for the popular Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Top 10 Takeover Dinner series.
On July 2, the series visits Noori Pocha in Clawson, which landed at No. 2 on the Detroit Free Press/Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers Top 10 New Restaurants & Dining Experiences list.
In March, the Free Press unveiled the 2024 Restaurant of the Year, Restaurant of the Year Classic and 10 Best New Restaurants and Dining Experiences.
Noori Pocha, on Main Street in Clawson, is attached to Noori Chicken, a fast-growing Korean fried chicken chain with several Michigan locations and others in the U.S.
The Kwon family owns both places and saw the potential for recreating the "pocha" trend, known in Korea where street food is served out of small, tented outdoor areas, to metro Detroit. Among the items on the Noori Pocha are rice cakes served in red gravy along with spicy kimchi fried rice dish, sweet and savory bulgogi and stir-fried chicken gizzards with roasted garlic, scallions and a sprinkling of toasted sesame seeds.

"They sought to re-create the essence of the pocha, where neon lights illuminate tables and crammed spaces foster conversation among strangers," Lyndsay c. Green, Detroit Free Press dining critic wrote.
