LA to host 2028 Summer Olympics, 2026 FIFA World Cup, 2027 Super Bowl

When you think of Hollywood, who else would come to mind? Yeah, it's no wonder, mega movie star Tom Cruise ushered in Hollywood as the next big host for the Olympics.
And as the torch gets passed to the West Coast for the summer games, you need to prepare. Between now and the 2028, the City of Angels will be mighty busy.
When is the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games opening ceremony?
The opening ceremony for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Games will be held on Friday, July 14, 2028.
What are the dates for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games?
The 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games will begin on Friday, July 14, 2028 and end on Sunday, July 30, 2028. This will be the first time the U.S. has hosted since Atlanta hosted in 1996.

The 2028 Paralympic Games opening ceremony will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2028.

The US, Mexico and Canada are jointly hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup, arguably the most viewed event in the world and the world's most popular sport, from Friday, June 12, 2026 to Friday, July 10, 2026.
Select games will be played in Los Angeles, specifically at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, home of the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers. SoFi Stadium will be used as a venue for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games where swimming events will be held.
The US Men's National Team will kick off the 2026 FIFA World Cup at SoFi on Friday, June 12, 2026. They automatically qualified since they are one of the host countries.
Other 2026 World Cup games will be played at SoFi as well.
.... Then some football
SoFi Stadium, which hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022 with the Matthew Stafford-led LA Rams defeating the Cincinnati Bengals, 23-20, will also host Super Bowl LXI in 2027.
Other 2028 Summer Olympic venues
In addition to SoFi stadium for the 2028 Summer Olympics, there are more than 80+ venues in LA (and two in Oklahoma City). They include:
- Memorial Stadium: Athletics which encompasses running, jumping, throwing, walking, and combined events.
- 1932 pool in Exposition Park: Diving
- LA Live arena downtown: Aerial gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline gymnastics
- Inuit Arena in Inglewood, home of the LA Clippers: Basketball
- Arena in Long Beach: Handball
- Convention Center Lot in Long Beach: Artistic swimming, water polo
- Equestrian Center in Temecula: Equestrian sports that emcompasses various disciplines involving horseback riding.
- LA Galaxy training fields in Carson: Field hockey
- Belmont Shore in Long Beach: Sailing
- Marine Stadium in Long Beach: Canoe and kayak races, rowing
- Riviera Country Club: Golf
- Softball Park in Oklahoma City: Softball
- Tennis Center in Carson: Tennis
- LA Live Theater: Weightlifting
- The University of Southern California Sports Center: Badminton
- Convention Center downtown: Fencing, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, table tennis.
- Velodrome in Carson: Cycling
- Waterfront on Long Beach: Marathon swimming and triathlon
- Whitewater Center in Oklahoma City: Canoe slalom
- Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area: Archery, BMX freestyle, BMX racing and skateboarding.
Note: Soccer teams will need to qualify for the Olympics.

- Best Western: Up to 350 days, according to The Points Guy.
- Radisson: Up to 730 days with cash and 270 days with rewards, according to The Points Guy.
- Hilton: Up to 365 days, according to The Points Guy.
- Hyatt: Up to 395 days, according to The Points Guy.
- Marriott: Up to 355 days, according to The Points Guy.
- IHG: Up to 355 days, according to The Points Guy.
What will be the new games at the 2028 Summer Olympics?
The IOC executive board has approved the addition of five sports that include men's and women's flag football, cricket (T20), lacrosse (sixes), squash, baseball and softball.
However, a decision on boxing is on hold.
