A 56-year-old Macomb County man matched the Fantasy 5 numbers in the June 26, 2024, drawing to win $963,040, according to a release from the Michigan Lottery.

He plays Fantasy 5 every day and bought the ticket at Smoker’s Express in New Baltimore, according to lottery officials.

He was at work the day after the drawing when he heard there’d been a big win and even told his wife it was at his go-to store, officials revealed. That night, the couple was finally able to check his ticket and learned he’d matched the numbers 04-05-08-22-38.

Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39 and must match all five to win a jackpot starting at $100,000. The drawings are held every night at 7:29 p.m., with final purchases at 7:08 p.m. at retailers or at MichiganLottery.com.

Plays cost $1, though there are add-on options that give players a chance to win $500 instantly and a second chance to win up to $110,000 in a “Double Play” drawing.

The previous Fantasy 5 record win was in 2020 with a $924,880 winning ticket purchased online, lottery officials stated.
