Jamex Brewing Co., a nanobrewery in St. Clair Shores, will close at the end of August, its owners announced on Facebook.

In its seven years of business, Jamex has become known for its small but creative menu of ales, lagers, wine and ciders that is constantly changing, often featuring fruity-forward IPAs and sours to try. Frequent events, like themed trivia nights, euchre tournaments and more, pulled even more customers in and developed a community within the brewery.

The owners cited the challenging industry in a challenging time as their reason for closure: "At this point, the risk/reward of owning this business with an amazing family of 5 to support simply does not justify staying open."

However, until close, the owners plan continue their scheduled events, encouraging their dedicated customers to come in and "throw back some brewskis" with them.

Jamex is located at 21721 Harper Ave.

The closing leaves two breweries in St. Clair Shores: Baffin Brewing Co. and Copper Hop Brewing Co. Dragon's Landing, a brewpub from Dragonmead Brewery, closed in March.
