Oakland County man wins $2 million on lottery instant game

An Oakland County man recently won $2 million — and he has his friend to thank.
The 54-year-old man, who chose to remain anonymous, won a top prize on the Michigan Lottery's Jackson instant game, according to the Michigan Lottery.
"Whenever my friend goes to buy lottery tickets, I always give him some money and tell him to buy me a few too," said the man told the Michigan Lottery. "He picked out this Jackson ticket for me and I scratched it as soon as I got it. When I saw I won $2 million, my jaw hit the floor and stayed there! I was in total awe, and honestly, I still am! I can’t begin to explain the feeling of winning this amount of money.
"I haven’t told anyone other than my friend that bought the ticket for me, but I plan to surprise my family soon by showing them my big check!"
The $20 ticket was purchased at Orchard Market Place located at 31511 W. 13 Mile Road in Farmington Hills. It was the largest Michigan lottery prize won or claimed in July.

The man recently claimed his prize and opted to receive a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.3 million instead of annuity payments for the full amount.
He plans to use the money to invest and save for his children's college funds.
Two of the three top prizes worth $2 million remain unclaimed for the Jackson game.
